four hours away~ (part 2)

another week, another post. sorry about the lack of posts these days. i'm gonna try to get into a more regular routine after i put up this post which is my continuation of last time. since i don't have classes to suffer through now that i've graduated i find myself having more time to just relax and do the things i want to do...that's a good thing right? i've been really productive in getting my room cleaned and organizing everything. now all that's left is to get into a partial-study mode for the lsats which i dread...i have a few months till the actual test date but this time it's all or nothing which is kinda scary now that i think about it (wish me luck!!) ♥

anyway, on a lighter note, i was able to go to the book signing i mentioned in my last post. let me say, waiting for about half a day was kinda worth it in the end. lauren conrad is unbelievably sweet and gorgeous upfront. i wish barnes and noble gave the fans more time though. there was quite a crowd that day (500-600 people total by the time the event started). one of the more memorable moments (as in a memory of the event that stood out, but not necessarily a good one as you will found out as you read on...) actually came from this girl standing behind me. when lauren came out everyone started to yell out her name and tried to get her attention which is normal since she's kind of a celebrity now. but this girl behind me would not stop yelling out 'ohhh.myyy.gawwwwd. ohhh.myyy.gawwwd...' in this annoying high voice that sounded as if she couldn't breathe. she just kept repeating that. needless to say i got annoyed lol. oh well can't complain now since i got my copy of the book signed and got to meet her xD

well enough stories, time for pictures! yayy.

this picture was taken at a cheesecake factory in boston when my friends and i had our last big dinner before some of us graduated. so sad but good memories~
one of my 'natural-behind-perspective' shots. this was taken during our lovely stroll to cheeseake factory in the middle of the day.

another one of the 'natural-behind-perspective' shots. it's strange how even though this picture was taken within minutes of the second picture i uploaded, you can clearly see a big difference in the brightness of the picture. it may have been the trees?

this is definitely my favorite instax pic of the bunch so far. it actually kinda looks like a painting because of the brightness from the sun. みんなちゃんと前に進んでるって感じかな・・・

lauren conrad 'l.a. candy' book signing event @b&n in tribeca, nyc. 2009.06.18

after buying her novel and securing my special wristband for the event i decided to get my lunch at the starbucks inside the b&n since i had to wait till 4pm and it was pouring outside. ♥iced caramel macchiato♥balsamic chicken sandwich♥l.a.candy♥

they played a few episodes of 'the hills' while everyone was lining up in anticipation for the exciting event!

after 20 minutes, i finally get to the front of the line and started taking some pictures. this is one of the few clear shots i got of her.

as i said before, it was definitely worth the wait haha. i was happy to be able to speak to her even if it was just for a couple of minutes. well, must go to bed early since i have work tomorrow! look forward to more regular posts!!

four hours away~ (part 1)

it's been awhile since my last post...it's partially because i feel very tired most of the time after i get off work so there might be a lack of posts during the weekends.

so what's four hours away? boston! (at least by driving it's 4 hours). since getting my fuji instax mini camera i realized that all of the polaroid-type pictures i've taken with it contain my memories of my senior year at boston university. the spring at bu was so nice this year and i have a couple shots of the campus on a nice sunny day. i also noticed that i've taken a liking into taking pictures from behind people as they are walking (for some reason everyone seems more natural from that perspective). i'll definitely upload them in the next post which will be part 2. but for now here's a few of the campus and my dorm:

bu's campus stretches for about a mile along this road (commonwealth ave.). the spring in boston can vary at times but this year it was nice and didn't get too warm.
this is a picture of the tree outside my dorm (you can faintly see the outlines of the building at the top of the picture). the sun was so bright that day that this picture sort of has a vintage feel to it. i like how the colors are so light and blended together.my senior year roomie marisa on her bed studying, like she always does haha ♥. this picture only covers a bit of her side of the room. you can also see my fiji water bottle ♥ which is my recommended choice of bottled water ♫.lastly, my two fish, アキノリ(red-right)&ユキノリ(blue-left). it was hard trying to get them both in the picture and after taking three test shots, this was the best one. since they're both male betta fish i have to keep them in separate tanks so they don't kill each other. i've had them for around a half a year so far.

i've gotten into the habit of dating all my polaroids right after taking them since it's easier to manage that way (why yes, i do like to sort my pictures in an orderly fashion xD).

just for comparison:
this is a picture of the same books from my 'vintage' picture that appeared in my first post (but with a slightly different distance and angle). the difference here is that it was taken by my fuji instax. you can clearly see the difference between the 1970's vintage polaroid sx-70 and the 2000's modern fuji instax. although the instax delivers bright colors and very defined contours of the shapes in the picture, the vintage polaroid has a more unique and artistic feel due to the blending of colors and the option to manipulate the film after it's been developed. it's interesting to see how film has changed over time and these polaroids are a good example of the apparent differences.

hopefully i'll get part 2 up in the next couple of days! (can't guarantee though since i want to go to lauren conrad's book signing in tribeca on thursday. very excited for that event!)

懐かしい・・・

so since i had today off i decided to scan all my polaroids and other pictures i've taken over the past few months. while i was going through my pictures i chanced upon a few プリクラ i took with my friends a couple years back. プリクラ is not as popular in the US as it is in japan so the machine we were at was very simple (therefore our pictures were not high quality sadly). also, the store we were taking them at was about to close so we had to hurry. nevertheless it was really fun because it's hard to find プリクラ machines here xD

the プリクラ pictures are of me and my two bestest friends (kayee and maggs ♥♥)
we may have funky poses because we had only like a couple of minutes to take a lot of samples haha.

notice the random japanese all over the プリクラ above. it makes no sense lol.

finally...

i wanted to start a blog for the longest time and now i've finally created one. i decided that this blog would mostly incorporate pictures since i recently bought a polaroid sx-70. i wish i had gotten into polaroids sooner because having that instant film pop out right into your hands is exciting! haha. all my posts will most likely have a picture or two from the cameras i own right now (♥polaroid sx-70 land camera ♥polaroid auto focus 660 ♥fuji instax mini 7s ♥sony cybershot DSC-T70♥).

to commemorate my first post i've uploaded a scan of my first polaroid taken with my sx-70. it's a close-up pic of my desk in my dorm over a month ago.
